I know what you most of you are thinking after finding out that Facebook bought the recently popular photo sharing application called Instagram. What’s next, honestly? Its as though Facebook is slowly taking over the world, but in this certain instance, I think it could be a good thing. Everyone could use a little facelift.
Even though I consider myself Instagram’s number one fan, I can’t help but be disappointed after any of their updates, wishing they finally came around to develop what I think mostly everyone else wanted. But they still hadn’t so I was just constantly sitting, hoping, waiting, wishing (yes, I know that’s a Jack Johnson song) that eventually the nine staffed million dollar company realized they needed to fill certain voids that they were missing.
Well, I guess it took them a whopping one billion dollars to let someone else do the job for them, and Facebook couldn’t be more perfect to make the amazing application completely unstoppable. What we really needed was to make it more accessible to be able to get to know the people you are following, or even if you do know them you had the ability to privately message other users, rather than broadcasting things publically through the comments.
This could have been a lot easier for me since I took Instagram as a means to dating. Except for the fact that I basically had to get to know that person publically through comments we eventually just found each other on Facebook and went from there. It would have been less embarrassing if I had the option to message users through Instagram, rather then publically show my interest and curiosity to a certain someone.
Not saying that I want to basically turn Instagram into Facebook, I am hoping Facebook knows not to really change something that isn’t needed to be touched but helps the things that they are lacking. That would be a huge upgrade for Instagram to be able to have the option to message someone that you follow. Some restrictions should definitely apply as far as celebrities that are using this application. I think they smartest way is to be given the option to message or, like Twitter, you have to be followed by the people you can message.
I would be shocked if this didn’t happen after Facebook has taken over but if they didn’t think of it just yet, I really hope people will speak up enough for them to realize what they really need to do and what could benefit them for, what I think is the better.
