In response to an article published on Fox Business, one of the nation’s leading online marketing firms, fishbat, discusses the rising popularity of brands hiring famous Vine users to launch ad campaigns.

On August 8, one of the nation’s leading online marketing firms, fishbat, responds to an article published on Fox Business, which details the growing popularity of big name brands hiring famous Vine users to advertise products on the popular video sharing app.

According to an article published on Fox Business on August 1 titled “Vine Super-Users Earning a Living via Social Media,” a select group of popular Vine users are starting to get paid to advertise big brand products six seconds at a time.

Major companies like Lowe’s, Mazda, Nike and Virgin Mobile have started to use Vine in their ad campaigns. The companies hire popular “Vine-ographers” who create short videos to advertise products. Interest in hiring popular users has grown so fast “that an agency solely devoted to Vine artists has even popped up, to help users connect with companies,” the article says.

Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at fishbat, one of the nation’s leading online marketing firms, says that it was only a matter of time before big name brands started to incorporate advertising in this free video app. “It’s a great marketing strategy,” he says. “Vine allows users to seamlessly connect with thousands of other users at a moment’s notice. I can see so many possibilities for brands to spread awareness of a new product or business easily without the hassle of building up an audience.”

In the article, fashion photographer Meagan Cignoli, a Vine user with over 300,000 followers says companies have sought her out to advertise brands. “Every brand has come to me on its own directly, or creative agencies like BBDO or Ogilvy have reached out,” she says in the article.

There is apparently so much interest in Vine advertising that Cignoli has been working on Vine campaigns seven days a week, the article says. Cignoli also says that she’s making around 90 percent of her income directly from Vine campaigns.

“Big brands and social media agencies know how to utilize new technology to help promote clients and spark sales,” Maas says. “Connecting to thousands of users through a popular Vine user allows them to quickly get word around for a small fee. Time equals money and 6 seconds is as short a time as these companies are going to need.”
