Following reports that photo-sharing platform, Instagram, has surpassed the number of mobile daily users on Twitter, fishbat, Inc. releases statement.
On September 28, 2012, online marketing company, fishbat, Inc., released an installment of their video press release series, “fishbat Splash,” in response to reports that Instagram had surpassed Twitter in terms of mobile daily users.
Reports from All Things Digital claim that of 110 million current smartphone owners in the United States, users visited Instagram, a photo-sharing platform that was acquired by Facebook this past summer, on a daily basis more frequently than Twitter, the popular social networking and micro blogging platform created in 2006. This marks the first time that a the photo sharing service, that allows users to add filters and frames to their photos before sharing them, has surpassed Twitter in the mobile app daily engagement rankings.
According to Scott Darrohn, COO of fishbat, Inc., and host of fishbat Splash, stated, “This is the first time that Instagram has surpassed Twitter as far as DAUs go. Even though Twitter has a greater number of smartphone accessing the site, Instagram users return to the site more frequently and for an increasing amount of time with each return, this could be due to the fact that the content being shared on Instagram is much more visual or due to Facebook’s acquisition of the photo sharing service, but regardless, this is a very large step for Instagram to have made this past August.”
