Remote Viral Reboot: Is this the Stone that Kills Samsung in the Smart Phone War?

The Samsung Galaxy S III is the new best thing in the world of smart phones according to most fans.  You can do so many unimaginable things with the new Galaxy S III, things that you supposedly can’t do with the new Apple iPhone 5 that has recently hit stores.  Samsung made that quite apparent with their new commercial that recently came out.

The commercial used humorous statements to show how the Samsung Galaxy S III is far more superior to the Apple iPhone 5.  The commercial shows Apple customers waiting on line for the new iPhone 5 while local bystanders use their Samsung Galaxy S III to trump every upgrade that was implemented into the iPhone 5 from the iPhone 4s.  It was more like a “been there, done that” commercial for Galaxy S III users.

Some claim that the commercial was Samsungs way of getting back at Apple after the massive law suit that lasted over a year and cost Samsung over a billion in damages.

However, Apple might get the last laugh. New reports are showing that the new Samsung Galaxy S III might now be vulnerable to a remote reset where the phone will ultimately be completely wiped clean.  Owners of the new Samsung Galaxy S III and even the older Galaxy S II are being warned about opening up links on their phone.  Users of the new Samsung smart phone need to be careful when opening up a link as a single line of malicious code can start a factory reset of the phone.

If this becomes a massive problem, Samsung sales will decrease as more people choose other phone providers that are impervious to such malware.  I personally can’t imagine Apple ever losing to Samsung. I have owned both types of phones and loved the iPhone much more.  Samsung may have created that clever commercial and their social media marketing has been more than impressive, but if their phones can be reset just by opening up a link, then they have more problems on their hands.
