Video Press Release: Online Marketing Firm fishbat Highlights Apple’s WWDC and Facebook Hashtags

Online marketing firm fishbat releases the latest edition of “fishbat Splash,” which highlights Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference and Facebook’s adoption of the hashtag.

On June 16, online marketing firm, fishbat, releases another edition of “fishbat Splash,” which highlights Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference and the benefits of using hashtags on Facebook.

According to the “fishbat Splash” video, Facebook rolled out the use of hashtags on Wednesday. While Facebook allowed hashtags previously, the social network finally made them clickable. Users are now able to click hashtags in posts, which will lead them to a separate feed filled with others also using that tag.

fishbat COO and Splash host, Scott Darrohn, says using hashtags on Facebook could be a great way for brands and companies to get exposure. “Instead of only being able to get your posts in front of people who like your page, you can now insert them into other feeds using hashtags,” he says. “Brands now have another way of targeting their audiences and choosing how their posts are seen.”

The video also recaps Apple’s big Worldwide Developers Conference. According to the video, Apple unveiled its latest operating system, iOS 7. Though still in beta mode and not available until the fall, iOS 7 has been generating a lot of buzz because of its deviation away from past operating systems. However, Darrohn says some of the most exciting news was the introduction of iRadio.

“iRadio is a new music streaming service that works with iTunes,” Darrohn says. “It has the potential to threaten rival services like Spotify and Pandora. Because it’s connected with iTunes, users might be able to create or share playlists easier. Marketers need to keep an eye on this product because if it does well, it’s going to be another big platform to advertise on.”
