According to an initial report by the New York Post, the NYPD had begun to post tweets to commemorate each of the fallen officers from 9/11, beginning on September 8, 2012 and leading into September 11th. Each tweet lists the officer’s rank, name, precinct and end of duty date. The tweets are unified under the common hash tag, #neverforget. The NYPD’s new Facebook and Twitter accounts have been primarily used to broadcast brief arrest reports, wanted reports and security tips prior to this.
