On June 10, fishbat, a leading online marketing company, discusses Coca-Cola’s new advertisement and the impact creative marketing may have on both producers and consumers.

In an article published by Mashable, Coca-Cola recently unveiled a new summer commercial depicting a newly designed Coke can. Created by ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, the commercial shows the many ways Coca-Cola has encouraged people to share the happiness of their drink, but with one issue, there’s only one can.

The Coke Social Can makes it easy for Coca-Cola consumers to share their beloved soft drink. It looks like a regular can on the outside, but actually twists off into two separate half-sized cans, making the soda a sharable treat, says the article.

The purpose of the advertisement was to creatively show how much more enjoyable Coca-Cola can be when it is shared. While the article says Coca-Cola has not verified if this is a real product, Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at fishbat, says it would be a poor marketing strategy to introduce something new and not pursue it.

“The idea of this new Coke Social Can is extremely innovative and it’s something people would actually use,” Maas says. “It’s a brilliant advertisement that really fits the brand. Even if Coke isn’t confirming it will be a real product, I’m predicting the company will begin to market and distribute this can. It would be a waste of an original idea if they didn’t.”

Maas says creative advertising is one of the most important aspects of selling a product. “Developing content that evokes happiness and creative ingenuity may be difficult to achieve, but it’s rewarding.” Maas says the social Coke commercial displayed the themes of friendship and happiness that have been associated with the Coca-Cola brand while incorporating a new way of sharing the product.

“Generating interest, discussion, and demand is the goal of creative advertising,” Maas says. “The advertisement for the Coke Social Can has surely generated interest and discussion. The demand for Coca-Cola, or more specifically the ‘social can’ will soon be identified.”
