Video Press Release: Online Marketing Company fishbat Discusses Vine’s Debut on Android

The newest edition of “fishbat Splash,” a production from an online marketing company, recaps the biggest digital stories from this week, including Vine’s debut on Android and Yahoo’s search page makeover.

The newest edition of “fishbat Splash,” a production from an online marketing company, recaps the biggest digital stories from this week, including Vine’s debut on Android and Yahoo’s search page makeover.

On June 8, fishbat Splash co-hosts Scott Darrohn and Gabrielle Giuffrida discuss Vine’s debut on the Android platform and how Yahoo’s search page makeover could affect an online marketing companylike fishbat.

According to the “fishbat Splash” video, Vine is now available on the Android platform. Previously, only devices supporting iOS were able to use the mobile app. However, the version of Vine available to Android users is a little behind the iOS version. For instance, it does not support the forward-facing camera or hashtagging features. However, the video says Android users will have to frequently update the app to catch up to the iOS version.

fishbat COO and Splash co-host, Scott Darrohn, says opening Vine to Android users was a smart move for Twitter, the app’s owner. “It opens the user base up tremendously and could influence more people to sign up for Twitter accounts,” Darrohn says. “Vine displays directly on Twitter, similar to Facebook and Instagram. This could prove to be extremely lucrative for the social network.”

The video also details the announcement of Yahoo’s new search page. Unveiled this week, Yahoo’s new search page is less cluttered and more like Google. Though these changes were superficial, Darrohn says more changes are to come.

“Yahoo has been trying to make its mark in the digital world and it’s been extremely active in making changes,” Darrohn says. “While there’s no evidence that the algorithm has changed, it wouldn’t surprise me if an alteration was made in the future. It’s extremely important that SEO specialists keep an eye on this because it could make a difference in rankings.”
