Content marketing has quickly become a new buzz word in the marketing industry. Content marketing is a method of distributing relevant content in an effort to attract and engage your target audience. A strategic, well-planned content marketing strategy essentially works as a sales force by reducing hard cost in exchange for digitally developing relationships and leads – ultimately giving marketers the ability to sell without actually selling.

It sounds simple. However, an effective content marketing strategy relies heavily on quality and thoughtful execution in order to engage the customer in a meaningful way while providing useful information on a particular topic. To succeed, it is vital to understand your target audience and be able to identify their unique interests and needs.

Consumers want information, and they want it now. With this in mind, consumers are more likely to read content that loads quicker. In an attempt to help businesses respond to this demand, Facebook and Google have both recently made changes to help the right audiences receive content both faster and easier.

Because speed is increasingly becoming a necessary component of content marketing, Facebook has recently released Instant Articles. This new feature allows users to view content without ever leaving the social platform to deliver a quicker, more optimized user experience. On the other hand, Google promotes content created by content marketers to a higher rank in search results through Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), which ultimately enables consumers to find the right content they are looking for at a much faster pace.

What does this mean for the future of content marketing? We are already seeing other media giants responding to the demand for effective ways to execute content marketing strategies. LinkedIn recently released The Sophisticated Marketer’s Guide to Content Marketing to help users change the way they think about content—how it’s created, how it’s delivered, and how it’s received.
