Introducing Your Grandparents To Facebook

Dear grandparents, if you aren’t sure what Facebook is, you don’t know what you’re missing. I know many grandparents aren’t using the Internet that much but you’d be surprised how many actually are these days. My own grandpa and grandma have Facebook and I think it’s a great way for them to keep in touch and stay connected with the rest of our family.

You might be saying Facebook isn’t for you and you may have some negative things to say about it but, it’s great for communicating in a simple way with your grandchildren. Trust me! I’m on the social media site all of the time (most of the day in fact) and many times it’s the easiest way to get in contact with me. You just need to learn how to properly use it and you’re in business!

You’re Facebook is all about you. You can control who sees your personal and private information. You can post pictures and view pictures of your family and cute grandkids and write personal (or public) messages to them. It’s really quite interesting and useful once you get the hang of it.

Not only family and friends but you can reconnect with friends you haven’t seen in many years and network socially with former colleagues and classmates. Sharing what’s going on in your life and seeing what others have going on in theirs has never been simpler. Grandparents.com even has its own Facebook page you could check out once you get signed up!

What I find amazing is how a generation that grew up never having today’s technology could adapt so quickly! My grandparents became tech-savvy in no time at all. What amazes me more is that members of the same generation that swear up and down that they will never own a computer. I wonder what bandwagon my generation will jump on or scorn. Guess I’ll find out in fifty years.
