On April 25, social media agency fishbat discusses the release of Coca-Cola’s new digital marketing strategy called “The AHH Effect” recently detailed in an Adweek article.

According to an article published by Adweek, Coke took a survey of a teen panel in an effort to devise a new plan that targeted mobile users. “The AHH Effect” consists of digital games that can be played on mobile phones and tablets, as well as on desktops.

Justin Maas, the vice president of client relations at fishbat, says this type of campaign is crucial because most teenagers are constantly on a smartphone downloading apps to play games. “Digital marketing campaigns could be highly successful, especially in this day and age,” he says. “It’s also good for social media agencies

In the article, Pio Schunker, the SVP of integrated marketing communications, says “This signals a whole new way in which we’ve decided to create marketing content.”

Coke is finally realizing that the best way to do marketing in the present and future is digitally. This is a huge milestone for the company. Schunker says, “The goal is for this to be a multi-year campaign.”

The soda company is also using Facebook and Twitter in order to get teens to come up with their own ideas for what should be added to the campaign. The top 25 submissions will be chosen to be included in “The AHH Effect.”

Maas says this is a perfect example of how a company can use social media to its advantage in order to engage their customers and encourage feedback. “A socially engaged brand tends to perform better than one who abstains from social media,” Maas says. “Consumers feel valued when brands take the time to ask for their opinions and respond to inquiries. That’s why many big companies are finding value in appointing teams to manage their social media pages.”
