The CFO of online marketing company fishbat, Inc. details his fitness regimen as he gets in shape for the Spartan Race at Citi Field on April 13.

The CFO of online marketing company fishbat, Inc. details his fitness regimen as he gets in shape for the Spartan Race at Citi Field on April 13.

On April 7, the CFO of online marketing company fishbat, Inc. reveals his training plans as he gets in shape for the company’s “fishbattlers vs. Sandy: Benefiting Island Harvest” Spartan Race event on April 13 at Citi Field stadium.

John Monderine, CFO of the online marketing company, says he has been training for the event since January, when the race was announced. “I’ve been training and working out about two or three days per week,” he says. “Previously, I was working out about four or five days a week, but recently I decided to cut it down and concentrate on nutrition and more endurance-focused exercises.”

The Spartan Race at Citi Field in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, NY will feature 15 obstacles. Monderine predicts the race will involve a lot of running, stairs, crawling and climbing. “I’ve been doing steady heart rate work and I’m trying to drop some bulk with my new nutrition plan,” he says. “I reduced my caloric intake to lose some weight. I’m trying to eat more protein as well; I follow a nutrition regimen like the Paleo diet.”

Though Monderine says it’s going to be tough, he’s excited to race at the “fishbattlers vs. Sandy: Benefiting Island Harvest” event. “Our company, along with many of our friends, are running in the race to benefit Island Harvest,” he says. “Island Harvest is a Long Island-based food bank that strives to end hunger and is currently helping those still suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. All the money we make from fundraising will go to Island Harvest. Up until Feb. 1, half of our team’s registration fees went directly to the charity.”

Monderine says there are many people still affected by Hurricane Sandy and there are many people struggling to find food. “I like to help out small local charities like Island Harvest because you know the money is really going to make a difference and help them provide food to the hungry,” he says.

The race will commence at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Citi Field. Monderine says there is still time to sign up and run with the fishbat team. To find out how, visit the “fishbattlers vs. Sandy: Benefiting Island Harvest”Facebook page.
