Following an article published by IT World Canada regarding Symantec’s declaration of a strategy for identifying malicious apps for mobile devices and social media platforms, online marketing firm fishbat weighs in.
On October 22, social media marketing firm fishbat responds to an article published by IT World Canada which reports Symantec’s announcement of a strategy to prevent malicious activity on mobile devices and social platforms through apps. fishbat commends the security firm in utilizing social media to keep ahead of hacking trends.
According to IT World Canada, who documents Network World, “Symantec is giving a sneak peek at what its researchers are cooking up at its [cyber-security] labs in those two sectors. For example, Symantec teams are working on adding social networking into role-based access control (RBAC) systems. Such systems already control access to sensitive data by assigning permission to certain people within a company or organization.” Symantec is working on a “social network graphic,” reports IT World Canada, which will identify user patterns to efficiently warn IT managers of irregularities.
Regarding mobile apps, IT World Canada reported that Symantec is working on a mobile device strategy that will keep away cyber criminals. IT World Canada documented Network World which reported, “The project seeks to do a run-time analysis of apps in an emulator to check not only for vulnerabilities or malware but also the ‘gray area’ where apps behave in what might be an undesirable way, such as tracking the user or other insidious behaviors.”
Nick Renna, Social Media Strategy Manager for fishbat Inc., commented on Symantec’s mission to protect social media users with enthusiasm. “With Symantec creating software to protect users from malicious apps on mobile device and social media platforms, potential clientele will be more inclined to adopt app building in their social media campaign.” Renna expressed confidence in Symantec’s strategy stating, “While hackers are continuously attempting to compromise social media apps, it brings great comfort to know that the user experience is in good hands.”
