Following the release of Twitter Music, social media agency fishbat, Inc. joins in on the excitement over the new music-sharing app.
On April 22, online marketing company fishbat, comments on the recent release of the new music-sharing app Twitter Music.
Rumors circled last week when various artists in the music industry and celebrities such as Ryan Seacrest, tweeted praise for the new app. However, it wasn’t until this week on Good Morning America, that Twitter finally made an official announcement.
In its new blog post, Twitter stated that the new music app will use “Twitter activity, including tweets and engagement, to detect and surface the most popular tracks and emerging artists. It also brings artists’ music-related Twitter activity front and center: go to their profiles to see which music artists they follow and listen to songs by those artists. And, of course, you can tweet songs right from the app.”
The app currently uses songs from three different sources: iTunes, Spotify, or Rdio. With iTunes, users are only allowed a 30 second preview. But with Spotify or Rdio accounts, users can listen to the full tracks.
According to the blog post, songs that have been tweeted by the artists and people you follow on Twitter can be found through the #NowPlaying stream. There, users can view and listen to those songs. You could also share those songs with your Twitter followers. Twitter Music has been available in the App Store since April 18.
“We are very excited to see this latest development in social media,” says Scott Darrohn, COO of online marketing firm fishbat. “With the overwhelming amount of people using Twitter, we just may be witnessing an enormous change in the way we share music today. With this innovation, social media agencies can expect to get onboard with the music scene and utilize marketing strategies through songs. Imagine radio jingles spread over Twitter, advertising products just like in the old days,” adds Darrohn.
Darrohn says the app will give people the ability to share music easier, but it will also open up a platform for digital marketers. “You could play ads in between or after the songs being shared on Twitter. It’s just another way for marketers to reach people on a different medium,” adds Darrohn.
