I know that (considering the topic) I should’ve titled this “The Dumb Things People do on Facebook”, but I think it goes without saying. I mean come on, what is this world coming to when a man actually thinks it’s a good idea to propose to his lady on Facebook?
Okay, so this is a rare thing to see on a social media site but trust me it’s out there (just like the guys that think this is a good idea, I guess). Of course all relationships are unique and what might not work for some of us may in fact, work for others, but what woman would want to tell the story of “how he proposed on Facebook” during her wedding engagement period?
As a woman, not only would I not take this proposal seriously but I’d also sort of feel offended and perhaps reevaluate the entire relationship. Put a little thought and effort into how you’re going to propose guys! After all, this is (or should be) a onetime thing and a huge moment in both of your lives. You should want to make this a special occasion and not just something you sent from your Facebook app on your Smartphone.
Not only is this idea thoughtless and slightly off-putting, but if you start your lives together with an Internet proposal, how will the rest of your marriage be? What’s next? Ordering a wedding dress online or creating a “Facebook event” for sending out your wedding invitations? Be smart about it, if you’re going to use the Internet at all during your proposal process, make sure you’re only using it to research some amazing proposal ideas!
Let’s get real, the thought of asking anyone to marry you via social media site should never cross your mind. If you want to increase the chance she will say “no”, then go for it but I have one last question, how will you slip that engagement ring on her finger through a Facebook post?
