According to Mashable, “In addition to sending the tweet to a friend, you can also opt to add a personal comment to go along with it. The comment is sent along in the body of the email rather than on Twitter itself, allowing you to comment about a tweet without making those comments public.”
The upside to this option? There are still people out there who are not Twitter users. While most social media marketing firms are spreading their brand messages around like enflamed gasoline, not everyone can see your tweets. Utilizing every possible tool in the tool box is essential in getting a brand message noticed and if there is a population unconnected to Twitter, your brand’s message goes unheard.
Emailing non-Twitter users may also encourage Twitter recruitment as well. The more recipients of Twitter-mail the more likely you can sway the user to join the Twitter-verse. The more members of the Twitter-verse, the more hyphenated Twitter-words you can create.
The email option for Twitter users appears under the “More” button when sending your message via email. Twitter’s “More” tab only displays the email option, suggesting that there might be more coming from Twitter in the future.
I would like to believe that Twitter has something clever up their sleeve to add to the “More” tab. While I am a Facebook fan, I think Twitter has the capability to do awesome things. My predictions for the “More” tab:
Twitter-Event
I would love to see a Twitter-Calendar option. Save the tweet and remind me of the event.
Birthday-Tweet
Whether it is a birthday or anniversary, a little bird is sent to wish a congratulatory tweet.
Archived-Tweets
A folder or many folders of past tweets that were worth saving and easy to get to when needed.
